modern-looking pellet stoves

I'm considering going with a pellet stove in our 300 sq.ft. addition, but I'm having a hard time finding a modern-looking stove. Any one know if such a thing exists, where to look or an alternative? Any thoughts, pros/cons on pellet stoves in general? Thanks in advance!

the only modern pellet stove i've found can only be bought in Europe, no US dealers lined up and not going to be for a while. also keep in mind a pellet stove will most likely overwhelm a 300ft addition.

This gas fireplace looks pretty cool and is perhaps a better choice for 300 sq. ft. since it's not nearly as high in BTU output...

Acutally the total room size will be 440 sq.ft.; the bump out is 300 sq. ft. Still, a pellet stove would overwhelm the space. The smallest model I've found is the Europro model through Danson. I have a call in to the distributor in my area for more information and cost.

jwb2010, thanks for the links. The Mini model is more along the size I had in mind. But forget the pellet stoves altogether...I'm sold on the plasma gas fireplace! Much better style-wise and for the size of the room, plus it's less expensive. I'm definitely pursuing this option.

If you're in California, be sure to check with the building dept. before buying. I think many ventless heaters are not approved.

The plasma fireplace looks very cool though.

I am in California and followed andykahn's advice. Spoke with the building dept this past week and was told each situation is reviewed individually, but in 99% of cases, ventless heaters are not allowed. I would need to provide them with the UL listing (not mentioned in the specs) in order to know for sure. With such slim chances, I'm now considering a vented gas fireplace with glass instead of the usual logs.

I was afraid that would be the problem w/ that plasma fireplace... since I am in CA too I've continued searching and found these, but of course, modernism comes at a high price again. Seems like kind of a large investment to spend $2-3K (before install) on a fireplace you'll only use a couple months out of the year.
However, they are way cool and I'm hoping maybe by NEXT winter I'll have won the lottery.
There is an electric fireplace that's less than $600 and looks pretty nice that might work for your 450 sg. ft. but no West Coast dealers so it would have to ship across country to CA.

I'm going through the same debate: is it worth the money just to take the chill out and then have this montrosity to stare at and take up space the 10 months it's not in use? The plasma fireplace was ideal...sleek and interesting to look at. The Wittus site has some neat options so thanks for sharing. I'm also going to check out the electric fireplace in more detail too.

I' m recommending you contemporary fireplace from Planika Fires. They started as a fireplaces designer and they have a pretty modern look.
