What is this Coffee Table?

Posted by B Rosendahl at May 10. 2005

I'm going crazy trying to figure out who makes the coffee table seen here:

Can anyone identify this?

Years ago I remember seeing this table. I think ALIVAR made it. I looked through my current catalog but it is not in there. You should call the guy who owns SEDIA .http://www.sedia.com furniture in Boston. If it is out there, he can find it

I may be mistaken, but didn't DWR carry this table a couple years ago? I think the base can be flipped.

Thanks for the prompt responses...I have contacted Sedia and hopefully I'll get a reply soon.

We have one of those, at least a cheap copy. We bought it at copenhagen for around $200.

Hey Outlinestudio, is it this table that you own?:

link: Glass Coffee Table

Yep, but ours has a black powder coated frame.
Oh and by the way. the glass from copenhagen was NOT tempered. I know that the strength of glass goes down when tempered, But when we purchased the table, it would have been nice if we were aware of the glass type. Our 2 year old hurled an etch-a-sketch from accross the room, landed square w/ the glass, and shattered into very large shards. Luckily, no one was hurt.
Maybe 3/8 annealed glass would be a better choice.

Well...I can't tell you how happy I am to finally find this table available. I've looked around for it for the past four years, ever since I saw it in American Psycho in 2000 and then a couple months later when I saw it in Design Quest store in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I regret not buying it on the spot. I'll be getting on the horn today and placing my order with Copenhagen.

Thanks a bunch Outlinestudio!

http://www.caban.com/ also sells that table. Also with glass that breaks when you bump into the table (a friend has it). I wonder who the original designer was?

I wish Caban had an online store. The other place I looked...Copenhagen is based in San Francisco and wanted to charge me $350 to ship it to Michigan! Does anyone else have a online store link to this table? Thanks.

Expos,

I live in SF. It seems that the expensive thing to ship would be the glass due to weight. Since some seem to dislike the glass anyway, if you had someplace local to get better glass economically, perhaps I could buy the table and ship the base to you via Fedex ground. It may end up costing too much all the same, but perhaps worth a shot.

Good luck on your hunt.

Wil

Our 2 year old

Yea, glass furniture doesn't fit well with 2 year olds. ;o)
