Ikea Adel OK for Modernist Home?

If you do not already know, Ikea has canceled production and sale of their Hallarum cabinet doors. I am currently building a modernist home on the Oregon coast, and had all but four of the Hallarum items that I needed. After discussing this with my architect, I have decided to look at other door styles.
Do folks think it would be ok to use either the Adel Birch or Adel Medium Brown in a Modernist style home? I really like the quality and look of these styles compared to the veneered styles of Ikea doors but they seem a bit old fashioned.
I like the Adel and I think that in the context of other modern-ness in a kitchen, it would look fine. Had there not been a Hallarum when I was choosing, I would have gone with it but I am not a sleek, minimalist modern person anyway. (Who knew that my Hallarum would be vintage so soon!!) Adel is less modern and more classic, but in a lot of situations, that would probably harmonize better anyway and give you more flexibility down the road.
Can you wait for Nexus brown-black to materialize? What about having custom slab doors made and still using IKEA boxes and hardware?
If I were in the position of still being a ways out from having a finished kitchen as it sounds like you are, I'd wait on the door decision all together and just get your carcases figured out, because who knows what will transpire in the coming months. At most, you'd have to wait two weeks for doors when the time is at hand. Maybe IKEA will introduce an entirely new doorstyle to fill the Hallarum void and you'll love it...? Maybe I'll decide I have to have it and offer to sell you all my Hallarum
Nexus Brown black seems more in tune with the Hallarum cabinets. The Adel's have more of a craftsman or shaker feel. I think Splatgirl is right, if you don't like the Nexus than wait a few months to see whatelse IKEA is offering to replace the Hallarum.

Brett, I am just finishing my new house....complete with Ikea Adel Birch cabinets (still putting on the 50 or so handles!!) They are beautiful. I have alot of color on my walls though and that really makes the birch stand out. I hope to have some pictures to show everyone when I'm through. My biggest problem with Ikea was that the nearest one was over 7 hours away (Dallas area) Oh the joys of living in rural mid America! By the way my name is Steve Kenney.......you aren't a long lost , financially blessed relative are you????? Still have several things left to do on the house!!!LOL

Thought I would share a photo of an almost complete new kitchen using IKEA Adel cabinets in medium brown...mounting the bar pulls on the drawers/cabinets horizontally & using modern tile patterns helped make the cabinets look more contemporary. The photo can be seen at:

Thanks to everybody for their suggestions. I think that we will go with Adel Birch since these are made from mostly solid wood. The craftsman style does not really bother me, and like shannon, we will try to do some things to compensate for this look. We can always change door styles for just a few hundred dollars. Thanks again.Previously Brett Kenney wrote:

The Adel brown kitchen doors from Ikea look better installed as a kitchen than they do as a single door. We are pissed that Ikea dropped Hallarum and we can't get black/brown right now because it is backordered until this summer - so they say.
We have been using Tidaholm Oak, Hallarum, and Adel Brown on our modern townhomes.

Click on the "Photos" link. You will also see a kitchen with custom doors on top of an Ikea frame. It is the kitchen photos that has the dark stained molding. We used Ikea cabines and had a millwork guy cut stain grade white oak cabinet doors instead. A custom kitchen look at half the price!
