I am trying to pick out toilets for my house and although I love the look of the Duravit Stark 3 and Happy toilets, I am not sure if they flush and generally work well... I have found tons of info on the more common brands (Kohler, Toto, etc.) but I have found no reviews on Duravits... I'm sure that some of you have Duravits, do they work well and take care of business the way they should?
I also like the Toto nexus, which has great operational reviews and look OK, but... they are not the Duravit Stark 3 or Happy Ds
They get the job done. If you wante dto guage the "Power" of the flush a Toto is going to flush better- But the duravits are adequte.
The big cautionary note on anything Duravit is to check stock. If it's not in stock then be prepared to wait 3 months. It might be faster- I'm just saying prepare tp wait. Also make sure to order from a vendor with experience with duravit- For most of them there is a "model number" for reference but you have to order all the pieces that make up the toilet. Thanks to the requirement that you order multiple boxes- it's easy to get it messed up. On one project in NYC the plumbing vendor sent the wrong toilet- 3 times. It took 7- months of headache to straighten out. (we put in a temporary Toto).
But they are really good looking and they work well.
I have just used 6 of the stark 3 toilets. they are generally good but the seats are very shiny plastic and will not last up over time. if one had to replace the seat they are unique to this toilet. the flushing action is good but not as good as the toto. The look in my case was more important than the flush.
I have not had any issues... yet.
Tim, for someone with the Starck 3, let me ask this, ah hem... somewhat personal question: How comfy are those plastic seats? I only ask because I have seen a Porsher toilet at the local Expo and the seat looks like a medival torture device.
We love our Starck 3 and get tons of compliments, which is hysterical considering it's a toilet.
No issues and it flushes just fine!

Hi Jacqui,
Where can you buy Duravit Starck 3 toilets in the Seattle area?
Many thanks,
Heike

Ahh, this is a question I've been asking for a while as well..
I was considering a Neptune Murano, good looking, but it's apparently not very good (made in China). My sales rep told me that he would never sell me one. He sold three, and they all came back. Neptune tubs are good though.
Duravit, he had no problem selling one to me, but did recommend one particular Toto. I didn't like the style, and that's why I'm buying two of the Stark 3.. great style! It also matches the overall design in my bathrooms. I'm quite surprised that there are very few "designer" toilets out there.. so Duravit it is!
BTW: All Toto's are not created equally.. an entry level Toto flushes as well as the best Kohler in my opinion.
Update..
If you're looking for information about performance, check out this pdf:
http://www.cwwa.ca/pdf_files/Map%2011th%20Edition%20Full%20Report1.pdf
It contains the MAP scores of most toilets on the market.. Unfortunately, the Starck 3 I would like to buy has a low MAP score! (250). The Happy D (round front) has a score of 600 which is pretty good! And looks quite good too! (it's just a bit more expensive than the Starck 3)
