Modern Remodel in Fullerton, CA

Ok, so here's the deal.  My wife, son Adrian (6 months), and I live in Fullerton.  We own a cottage style home and are ready to modernize this home.  I've upgraded and modernized quite a bit on the interior and we're ready to start work on the exterior of our home.  Saying I don't like the exterior of our home is being polite.  If it were up to us, we'd like to live in a box...(linear facade, flat roof, minimalist landscaping, etc.)  Quite honestly, like most, I settled on this home originally because of our budget limitations.  I've endured living in this home this long and can't wait to change the exterior look.  My questions is...Does anyone know of any upstart architect, designer, university program, etc. that would be interested in working with us to re-design our home sort of as an internship project?  Are there any programs out there already?  Budget is always an issue and I'd like to explore this as an opportunity for someone that is looking to get their feet wet on a project and for us that don't have a huge budget.  Any ideas?
