Welcome all Jacksonville modernists and even some mod-curious. Many of you know, especially after last weekends Super Bowl, Jacksonville (Duval County) is one big land mass. We would love to hear from everyone, from the beaches all the way down to Gainesville. I look forward to hearing from other modernist interested in living modern and living in North East Florida.

OK......here goes the grass roots movement. I would love to find some way to put together a NE Florida Modernist meeting. I know that we are few and far between, but tell your friends, family and co-works, anyone interested in modern design and modern living (I think there might be some modernist hiding in those faux Mediterraneans). I have about four people that are interested at this point. Send them to live modern to find out what this modern stuff is really all about. Make sure they post if they are interested. If we can get some people together, we can pick a central location (downtown or San Marco?) and get together.

just let me know the time and place. there's a great new coffee shop in San Marco, called Uncommon Grounds. it has comfy couches, a couple of coffee tables (for spreading out and showing off your cool drawings to other modernists), and it's not a srtabkucs (although there is one down the street).

i have a couple of friends in St. Augustine who are looking to build a glidehouse (or something modular) in a couple of years. they might be interested, too.

I’m glad you are up for it. I have been thinking about doing this since DWELL forums were on the DWELL site. What took me so long? I have started steering my friends to this forum so that we can get a good first group. We should have a god group of architects and designers. Ask your St. A friends if they would like to participate. I know a guy in Gainesville that might like to come. Lets shoot for three or four weeks from today. Maybe we can get some feedback on weekday or weekend, coffee or happy hour, etc.....

Count me in Greg. We met briefly yesterday at the FAMU mid-term jury. My business partner Miguel, and myself (Scott) started our design/research firm Eleven Squared, Inc., the first of the year and are interested in your group and the possibilities it can bring to the design community as well as the fabric of our fine city. Both of us are Jacksonvillians, born and raised. Keep me posted on the happenings.

Kudos to your efforts in getting this thing off the ground. Eleven Squared, Inc.
