Re: where can i find a cheaper version of this lamp?

I've never seen a Tolomeo knock off, but they come up every so often on ebay. If you get a desk model you can substitute the wall mount for the desk base.
Depends on if you are looking for an exact knock off, or just something similar. Do a quick froogle search for architect's lamp and you will get lots of similar styled desk lamps that you could probably rig up for a wall mount. If you want an exact look, then I agree with modfanatic, http://www.artemidestore.com has them for about $215 with free shipping.
I have two lamps very similar to that in my studio. I got them at one of the home improvement stores for like $20 bucks each. Not as elegant as the DWR ones, but hey, it's $20 not $200+.
You might score at Target, Wal-Mart or even an art supply store.
thanks for the suggestions. i did see a couple lights that have a similar look on target's website but they were desk lamps. i need to mount these to the wall. any ideas of how to mcgyver the desk lamp versions to mount to a wall?
This is the best knock-off I can find for $159.95.

I think I would splurge for the original, it is a modern classic.
Good luck!

There is always this Pivot Arm Sconceat west elm for $69.
It does come in a silver too.

You probably don't need to Mcgyver it. If you go to the Artemide site mentioned above and buy the bracket. I have a desk version and I wanted to set the thing into my desk--drill a hole and connect right into the table top--they have the bracket and sold it to me. I am not sure how much the wall bracket would be but it's nice to have the real thing. If you don't see it on the site--just email or call them, they should be able to help you.
Good luck, I love mine.

Check out y-lighting for this exact lamp at a stellar price. Plus the have tons of other modern manufacturers listed and all at prices discounted typically even more than the big lighting showrooms will give to contractors.
I just received my two aluminum micro Tolemo's and they are awesome (though the little round part that covers where it goes into the wall is kind of crappy...it has this weird seam running down the middle of it -- part of the mold I am sure but how odd that it wasn't smooth across the whole thing.) Still think they're great though!
Artemide were giving away the desk clamp version of that light earlier this year with any purchase over a few hundred dollars.
Although I love Artemide's design, the engineering of their products makes me wonder. I have the Metamorfosi Yin floor lamp and I put a large number of Artemide ceiling and wall lights in our previous house. Someone at Artemide loves to put tiny Allen screws in odd locations. I swear you could kill yourself changing the halogen in the ceiling lights (a large slab of glass suspended by two tiny Allen screws) whereas the Yin will just drive you insane with the need to locate a special Allen tool to remove the diffuser.
Ylighting has it on sale for $182.95

I'm a fan of Lamps Plus. Try this one.
