inexpensive sofasPosted by David Roser at September 11. 2005
I'm in the market for a new sofa. I hate to buy something where comfort is so important without sitting on it, but I can't find anything I like in the stores near me. So I'm thinking about mail order. I'm looking at both the concept and standard sofas at cb2, and possibly theZensofa/sleeper from Eurway. The Zen is the cheapest, and as it's also carried at BoConcept in DC I was able to actually sit on it to see how it is. It's comfortable enough, although a little firmer than I'd like and maybe a little too futon-like (I'm not sure how I feel about the lack of arms). Does anyone have any of these? How are they for sitting, slouching, and sleeping? Alternatively, does anyone have any other suggestions which are available either online or in stores near DC/Baltimore? I'm trying to keep it to $1000 or less. Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Have you checked Scandinavian Designs? Their Kiel Futon is similar to the Zen sofa from Eurway and for under $500.

OK, let's say you have between $2500 and $3500 to spend on one of those giant sectionals that isn't just and 'L' shape but a 'U' shape. Are there any recommendations? Looking at the Stendmar site and they have some great designs, but I want a company I can trust a little more...

Man, well designed sofas at a reasonable price are just too damn hard to find. I have been half-way sofa seeking for almost 2 years now. There just isn't much out there.
My range is aound 2000-3500 and my taste is classic modern. Usually the sofa is way too plain for me, or too funky. Nothing in between.
I really wish I could get a Robin Day forum sofa is the US.
The only image i can fnd is a rendering .... it's in leather
