I think you could take the ikea lofts and mod them up a bit. Paint over the birch, and/or screw some white polypropelene behind the slats, and remove or change the hardware. Replace that country chair with something a little cooler (Ikea's tractor seat chair comes to mind), and I'm sure those lofts would look a lot better.
