Cool Door Awnings?

I've got a wacky front door which needs an awning. Wacky because if the awning is too big, it will block windows. Anybody have a source for creative awning ideas?
Thanks,
SL
Are you looking for an awning to block sun or just weather? Have you thought of a glass awning? We saw them all over Vancouver (to block rain for shoppers entering/exiting small store fronts) and fell in love.
These are the companies I found quickly with Google. We don't know how or if we are going to make ours yet.

mjfreestone also had a great picture in one of the threads of his front door and glass awning, but I can't seem to find it right now.
Blocking rain is the objective. Thanks for the ideas. I didn't even know where to start. This (http://www.tacometals.com/download/CANNOPY9B.jpg) sort of thing would be perfect. I should have thought of it having lived in Seattle, but I've become too happy in the SF Bay Area.
Thank you again!

I can't remember when or where I saw it, but I remember what it was clearly.
An early eighties Volvo rear hatch (all glass) with aluminum rods and hing attached it to a house. Instant success, sweet recycling. Couldnt have cost more than $150 to assemble, and all the holes you need are already there.
Just swing by a car salvage yard and poke around, you may find the same thing. Even if you have to remove one from a frame or pay the yard to do it, it comes in less than some other similar designs.
The only problem is that it isn't HUGE.
If I had an application for it, I would do the same.
You saw that Volvo door on HGTV's Extreme Homes. I clearly remember that house now that you mention it.
Actually, I jogged my memory today when I saw a volvo.
I saw it in a magazine at a whole foods market, or a co-op.
It was probably in both though, or possibly the show got the idea the same place I saw it.
It was neat.
Awning can help to block the sunlight and also rain.
