Advice on Corbustier type Chaise selection

Posted by Bunnie White at March 02. 2008

Greetings....My husband is asking me to find him a Le Corbustier chaise with an added reclinable feature-for his office space (he is a napper shhhh.)  When I sent him links to numerous choices...he replied and gestured like a duck-with his wings/arms flapping in the air..."What am I to do with my arms?"

For crying out loud...it is a Le Corbustier it has no arms, honey..."Well I don't care what hoity toity it was or is...I do have arms!  Get me one with arm rests!"

So dear board, I was wondering if any of you know of a similar model that will stop my husband from flight.  He really shouldn't do that ...he looks ridiculous!  (or "redicurous" per Seinfeld)

Any advice or direction would be greatly appreciated!  If you don't help...it may be a barcolounger.  Oh dear.  Save me!

Did he really want the LC chaise model with arms? Or just a modern chaise that he could nap on?  No matter. THere are lots of nice lounge chair/ottoman combinations that would work. From the more classic side, the womb chair, the Eames lounge, the Eames aluminum group lounge and ottoman (I like the soft pad version for comfort), or the Artifort Oyster chair/ottoman all would work as they all have high enough backs to support a head. The Bertoia Bird chair may be a bit too upright for napping. And here is a van der Rohe design with arms (but still pretty narrow).

On the more 21st cent modern side, how about Cassina's Dodo chair? Or perhaps a B+B Italia Landscape chaise (no arms, but may be wider than the LC version).
