Help me find a sofa

Posted by darrel at October 30. 2007

We're finishing our basement and are looking for a couch with some specific criteria:

For starters (and perhaps the impossible requirement) this will be the 'TV sofa' so we'd like a modern, clean simple sofa (ie, NOT poofy) but is as comfortable for TV watching as the ugly overstuffed poofy ones.

Another requirement is that we need a sectional that can easily handle both an inside and outside corner. Hopefully the diagram explains it better. Any suggestions?

Final requirement: We have kids. If it can be somewhat 'kid proof' all the better.

Price? 1k-4k range would be ideal.

Any suggestions?

try Viesso (www.viesso.com)

Thanks. Viesso looks nice, though pricey given that their sofas aren't that unique from what I've seen in the 'contemporary' category.

I still need to hit a few more stores, but it looks like we're going with IKEA. I hate to go with them yet again, but they have some nice sofas that the missus is liking and I can't complain about the price.

A few more criteria that I should have added:

 - We're in MN. I need to sit on a sofa before I buy it, so it'd have to be a brand/model with showrooms here.

 - the sections of the sectional need to be small-ish. This is going in our basement and we have a really nasty turn at the top of the stairs to get them down.
