interesting, modern, minimalist mailbox on post

I know mailboxes - or the dearth of attractive, modern ones, especially ones that can be post-mounted - have featured on this forum before but has anyone found anything new?? I am familiar with what Chiasso, Umbra, Brabantia etc. sell and was hoping someone might know of a local company / artist who makes something similar to the gorgeous mailboxes from the New Zealand company, www.letterboxes.co.nz (as featured in the July issue of Dwell).

Came across your post while doing some searching for exactly the same thing.

I had gone with the Metropolos from Target. Easy to install, pretty sturdy, although not very waterproof (would help if the mailman would close the lid when it rains). But I'm searching for something else, since neighborhood kids kicked it's door in during Mischief Night. Managed to get it open and working/locking again, but it's pretty beat up now...

Hi Lawrence, Thanks for listing and linking all those mailboxes. I recently came across a beautiful though not inexpensive mailbox in the Design Within Reach holiday catalog. It is their Premier mailbox and sells for $400. www.dwr.com Lauren
