Should my doors and floors match?

Posted by Franco Vogt at April 09. 2007
We are in the middle of a full renovation and are installing new BR-111 floors. The floor is their Maduro Chestnut, very dark espresso color. The big question is, the floors and the new windows. The windows are bare pine right now and the doors are bare birch, the big issue is do I stain all the wood work to the darkness of the floors? I really like the look of very dark doors, but as anyone who has tried staining 3 different types of wood to match in color, it is hard to say the least. Any words of wisdom out there? Thanks F

Hard to say without a picture, but I would think about painting the doors and windows. You will have a very difficult time matching the three woods. Besides, clear birch doors and clear pine windows probably aren't that attractive together anyway. Good Luck :)
