We are trying to arrange for a Fall meeting. We last met in early spring, but I'd like to get a bigger group together this time.
In the past we have organized Delaware Valley Modernist meetings by communicating via the message board at LiveModern. This has worked fine and we will still do it, but I would like to get email addresses for people who are interested because most people don't check the messageboards on a daily basis. I think it will be a little bit easier to organize a meeting if I can do it via email. If anybody out there has experience setting up email lists - the automatic kind - please step up. For now I am going to just manage it on my computer but it would be great if we had one of those list arrangements where if one person sends an email then all receive it. I thought you could set these up via Yahoo?
So get me your email address if you are reading this on the messageboard and are interested. If you have any friends that are interested and don't participate at livemodern have them email me and I will add them to the list. If you don't want to be on the list let me know and I'll take you off.
The votes are cast and we have a location:
The Tablula Rasa Cafe (coffe shop) in the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia is the site.
944 N. 2ND St.
http://www.tabularasacafe.com/
7:30 is the time.
Modern is the subject.
No need to RSVP but I sure hope you are all coming and we can put faces to some screen names. Bring pictures of your project, magazines with houses you like, pictures of houses you have seen.
We had a fun meet up last night. I brought some images of projects that are under construction, Lawrence and Kendra had some images of their new house, modern house detectives Maria and Betsy swapped leads to locations of great modern houses in the Delaware Valley, and Lucia shared her floor plan designs. Tabula Rasa was a great location for our purposes and I think we should try to use this again when we meet in philadelphia. There is a lot of development going on in the neighborhood, much of it contemporary, which is really great to see.
More news: Phil Moyer, one of the people on the mailing list has the ability to run an email list server off his equipment. He has gone ahead and registered delvalmod.com and sometime in the near future we should have that up and running. For those who are not familiar with what exactly an email list server is, it is a way to send an email out to a group of people by sending a single email to the server - when you email to the server it then sends out your message to everybody on the list. This allows anybody in the group to initiate an email to everybody else, so it supports a dialog among members. When it is up and running we will send out instructions for how to join. It is a great way to stay in touch especially since not everybody cares to watch the messageboards here at livemodern.
