Great website!
$650,000 sounds like an ambitious budget, but a smart move, since most of the value and enjoyment is in the design rather than the frills.
Speaking of frills, what is your budget for the pool and what are the dimensions? Do you have any tips on how to keep costs low for a modern pool?
Thanks for the feedback on the site. Right now the pool is at 40x8. We haven't gotten to the actual estimating on that yet. But the standard placeholder is $20-$30K. I'll let you know how we end up and if we stumble upon any ground breaking new ideas in the process. So far the only words of wisdom have been to do it at the same time they do the foundation work.
Aaron, I am glad you and Amy found an architect that is a good fit. I really like where the design is going and think it will be a good addition to the Kessler neighborhood. Be sure to keep us updated throughout the process.
aopsal,
we too had a/b 20-30k pegged for our pool budget. similar size also, maybe we had 8x30... can't recall.
when I called some of the local (austin) pool folks I was told that typical pool prices start at 40-50k and they charge more for straight sides (rectangle) as opposed to a more freeform shape.
our pool fell out of the budget but we did get an endless lap pool type of device. we paid a little extra and got an extension to it and I think we'll be at around 18 ft of length.
fwiw, our build is a/b 2800 sq ft and budget is going to be similar w/ all that we are putting in out of pocket and out of the builder's books.
