Thanks to all of you who provided links and advice. I guess I'll have to hit Dallas soon. I've been to DWR and while their stuff is great, it's a bit rich for me right now (the restoration pretty much drained me). Century Modern looks interesting and I'll go by Danish Inspirations too. I'm really going to strive for all period furniture, if possible and it looks like CM has quite a bit so that is encouraging. It's a shame that the majority of the D.M. stuff seems to be on either the east or west coasts.

I went to an estate sale last weekend and they had quite a few D.M. tables, settees, etc but they had painted them all white with oil based paint. Has anyone ever been successful at stripping teak? It seems like the grain is too deep to get all of that white paint off.

scott and cooner is having a warehouse sale this weekend (dallas only)- normally I wouldn't bother with them (too exspensive for poor little ol' me) but this may be a great opportunity for a steal! 1308 Dragon St; Dec 2 3 (tomorrow and sat); 9:30 -5:30
By the way, I work for a Herman Miller dealership in Addison. If you're interested in any of the modern classics collection I could probably get you a bit of a discount...

I forgot to mention that I've had really good luck with Ready Strip. If you are actually patient enough to let it do it's job, it works great. I used it to strip some of the kitchen wood work in my New Orleans house (before it drowned) and was able to remove about 80 years of paint. It's neat stuff, fairly green, and ,for better or worse, you don't get high off the fumes.

Thanks. I'll go to the sale tomorrow. I appreciate the stripping tips too. Now I regret not having bought all of that furniture, though. If I need (and can afford) any HM stuff, I'll be in touch.

Another great place to try for vintage danish modern furniture is The Consignment Solution. They are in the Lakewood area of Dallas. I've purchased several pieces from them, and am extremely happy with my finds. I purchased a Heywood Wakefield dining set, and a thayer coggin chair w/ottoman, some misc. danish pieces. They were all vintage and reasonably priced. Check out their website for address/hours info. http://www.consignmentsolution.com/
