Several LiveModern readers came to last year's White Rock Home Tour, so I wanted to let you know about this year's. Three of the five modern homes are architect-owned by Cliff Welch, AIA; Jeff Good, AIA; and Yung Jen Tai, AIA. Two will feature modernist architects as guest speakers in the homes they designed more than 30 years ago. They include: Lyle Rowley (Howard Meyer understudy and co-founder of Ju-Nel Homes) and Pedro Aguirre (owner of Aguirre Corporation.) The earth-sheltered home at 2001 N. Buckner makes its public debut with this tour. The event is sponsored in part by AIA, UTA School of Architecture, D Home Preservation Dallas. The event is designed to showcase art through modern architecture and fine art to benefit art education at Hexter Elementary. See www.whiterockarts.org for ticket and event information. Photos of Cliff Welch's residence and Pedro Aguirre's last and favorite home design are attached.
