Cool. How stable are they and do they require mechanical connection to the floor?

They are very stable. You can tip it almost 45 degrees and it will not fall over. The base plates are wide enough to add the stability needed. No mechanical connection to the floor needed. We wanted the LOFTwall to lightweight enough for people to change the layout as they see fit. Other than screwing in the base plates, this is a one tool system that can be put together in less than 20 minutes. Here is a picture of the locking system that we use to assemble the LOFTwall.
