Hi, I Just joined the site today and I have a lot of questions.

I currently own a loft in the West Loop area but am starting to contemplate moving up to a single family home. I'm about 2 years out from going down this path but I'd like to start getting some information.

I'd love to have a modern home built, though I'm QUITE concerned about the costs involved. I've heard that a general rule of thumb that costs for new construction is in the $200 per sq. ft. Is this about right? What tips can people recommend that would help keep cost down?

I guess I'm looking for a forum that helps people looking to build their dream home avoid/minimize the head/heartaches involved with this type of undertaking.

Things like:
Architect recommendations, City Regulations, Tips for building new construction in the city, Ways to find land in the city (maybe odd/small shaped lots that could be inexpensive), Recommendations of neighborhoods to raise a family (preferably up-and-coming)
