Building in Catskill Region

Greetings All,

I found this site online while surfing for info about residential building in the Catskill Mountains so first and foremost - thanks DrSam for setting this up.

My wife and I will be building a 2000sf house on 10 acres right outside of Walton, NY. I'm a practicing architect in NYC and am eager to get started but have no idea what my money can buy me in the region. any idea what in a general sense, what the cost per squre foot is in the area?? also, and this is just a shot in the dark but can anyone recomend some good residential contractors who have experience with modern home building in the catskill region?? I want to hire some good people to manage and oversee the building efforts - any feedback is much appreciated.

bTW - anyone ever heard of a gc named dick daugherty?? his name was mentioned in the description of a steven holl house located in the Catskills and i can't find him anywhere..
