PREFAB FLORIDA?

Posted by Greg Pohl at November 09. 2005

I was wondering what prefab developers are currently providing to the state of florida. I got on the prefab link this afternoon and couldn't find anything. I live in central florida (Melbourne/Cocoa Beach), and I was thinking of buying some land and either starting with something small for the time being, like a weeHouse, or something larger immediately, depending on the price of the land. However, I cannot seem to find any information on modern prefab homes in my area. Can someone, anyone, give me a hand? Thank you so much.

Our group is building in Florida. See the manufacturer's site at www.ecocontempo.com

They just finished two cottages in Punta Gorda - not modern on the surface, but built with steel. Some photos in my blog here:

The houses via EcoContempo are modern, the cottages are more traditional.

Thank you for responding, I was looking for something like the Radziner prefab, but with a U shape. Basically, the before mentioned center piece, and then two pieces to run on either side. Do you have a design like this? Thank you so much.

Sincerely,

Greg

I have a design called the U House which is still in a schematic state. There is a small thumbnail on my web site on this page:
http://www.lamidesign.com/plans/planscat/remotepg.html

It is not shown on the EcoContempo site because I have not worked up any renderings yet, but its a great candidate for the EcoSteel building system and a great design for Florida.

I'll link in a bigger image:

Thank you. I can see what you're doing and I really like the idea. About how far out are you on a more detailed version of the sketch? Could it be altered in any way prior to construction (not major alterations)? Thank you so much.

I have no completion date for the stock plans for conventional construction but the EcoSteel prefab houses do not rely on those plans. To make a steel version we need to begin again.

Email me and I can send you a copy of the floor plan layout and see if it works for you. Email link is below my photo at left.

Thank you, I sent an e-mail so that you can forward me the stock plans. Could you send me any plans that you have for one level houses. Thanks..

Between On-Site and PreFab, which is a more cost effective and functional idea for the state of Florida? If you had the same house, same sq. footage, and same amenities; which is a better choice?
