Recycled barn into modern dwelling

Posted by Ben Leeming at November 17. 2006

I would love to hear any fellow modernists' thoughts about recycled buildings as modern dwellings. My wife and I are lovers of antique timberframe structures AS WELL AS modern architecture. We purchased land in MA and a 19th century barn from ME, hired an exciting young architecture firm and are in the process of permitting and hoping for a mild winter. Please check out photos, designs, and musings at our blog: barehillbarn.blogspot.com

Hope to hear from you!

Ben

how exciting! i admire your ability to fighting the good fight and not sacrificing the original intent of your endeavor due to budgetary reasons. it sounds like you've found a good contractor and willing to do waht it takes (do some fo the work yourself, build in phases etc) to end up with the modern house you envisioned.
go ben go!
