iso containers as foundations

Posted by Keith Williams at October 11. 2005

I have been searching for a basement wall system to the house I am trying to build. I am thinking about using 4 40'HC iso containers. I would use 2 rows with 2 containers end to end. The rows would be spaced 28' apart or 42' from outside edge to outside edge. One outside edge would be backfilled but the soil is well drained and there is pratically no clay. I have a 42' wide parabolic arch building that will span from edge to edge finishing the shell. Since all the force transmitted by the building is along its edge and the edge rests on the edge of the container it should work, right?? Any help or ideas are appreciated.
