Tell me about the unhealthy obession.

IKEA are a nice bang for the buck since they use Blum hardware and if you're cool with doing a little work yourself then they're a great deal. If you like Henrybuilt then you should check out these cabinets, http://www.eastvoldcustom.com/. I met the owner Matt through the people at Lolldesigns.com. He's a custom cabinet maker and I'm not sure on the cost yet (I should have an estimate on them by Friday) and hope we can afford to use them. His work is incredible and says he's very affordable because he's a smaller shop (they're located in Nothfield, MN which is about 30-45 mins south of St. Paul.)

We may be down there for my wifes best friends 40th birthday in June, and I'd love to see where your project is at.

My wife and I are doing something similar. We LOVE your design. Who did you use as an architect, or is it a stock plan modified? We live in lake Mills currently and have found a lot in the Stoughton area (where we both work).

 

If you don't mind me asking, what was the cost per s/f for your house, and did you guys do a lot of the work yourself?

Beautiful house, and can't wait to see the finished pictures.

I recently relocated to Madison for a job from Seattle.  I've only been here for 5 weeks and looking for houses here seems to be very challenging.  I've always wanted to build but have know idea how to even get started.  I'm a designer myself (clothing) so what I live in is very important to me and I know most people can't understand why people like us thrive on architecture.  I've been trying to locate an architect and or builder here but no one seems to have any work to show that I feel like approching--especially with what I want to do.  I have run across a handfull of homes that are listed that I would love to rework but can't find any contractor/builder to call to come and look at the houses. 

Laura, I would never want or think about duplicating what you're doing because I think you are doing a very personal thing, but I'm in the same situation as Brad in regards to finding the right people---contractor/builder.

i would love if you could point me (others) in the right direction.  And again,  IT'S SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL!!!  Please HELP!!!
