Getaway in Wisconsin

Posted by Don Chartier at August 16. 2007

I've started construction on my modernist "hermitage" in southern Wisconsin. It will have a glass curtain wall and is heavy on concrete, using the Thermomass insulation system that Jason Hammond is also using (good to know that someone else is just as crazy). We've just poured most of the walls, but still have decisions to make re the color of the curtain wall frame and the siding (likely fiber cement, possibly the expensive-but-luscious stuff from Switzerland called Eternit or Swisspearl.

The blog is at www.ranchodeluxe.blogspot.com. Your comments and suggestions are more than welcome.

Regards,

Don

Here are some ortho drawings to give you a sense of the design. The light gray is concrete, the dark gray is fiber cement panels.
