I've seen pictures of Pedernales Lofts and have driven and walked past them. My verdict: They disgust me. They're a complete and utter ripoff. And I image the other developments are more or less the same.
From the outside the Pedernales development is ugly, just looks like a big grey box with no interesting architectural features at all. The interiors don't fare much better. Boring and cheap looking all around. And speaking of cheap, I can only imagine how incredibly inexpensive those units were to build, but boy do they sell them at a premium. Your looking at a good $250k for a 1200sf/1bdrm. Or $175k for one that's probably 800sf or so. At those prices I'd just buy a plot of land or a tear down in the same area and have a similar sized dwelling designed and built.
The Saltillo's look a bit more interesting, but still overpriced IMHO. Same goes for the others. I don't think you'll find any of them selling for under $200sf.
Hell, for those prices just go 6 miles further east and buy a much larger and infinitely better designed home in the Agave Development.
Here's a couple craigslist links to Pedernales lofts:
And a link to info on the Agave Development:
