Vintage Modern Homes is proud to present our latest mid-century restoration at 6019 Belfast Dr., just North of the Mueller Airport development. Join us for a glass of wine, some nice appetizers, and the work of some fine up and coming local artists.

Vintage Modern is dedicated to the restoration and updating of classic mid-century architecture, and to making these timeless beauties available at a reasonable price point. We start by ensuring that the home's structural integrity and systems are updated or restored, either by leveling its foundation, replacing drain lines, updating electrical panels, or reframing damaged walls & ceilings. We then create a comprehensive design plan that maximizes the space, highlights original features, and unifies design elements. When the right design element isn't readily attainable or affordable, we often design and build it ourselves. Our goal is to create a one-of-a-kind space worthy of the architects and designers that built these homes originally.

6019 Belfast Dr. is one of our most exciting projects to date. This spacious 3 bedroom, 2 bath home has 2 living areas and a large office w/utility room that together encompass 1735 square feet. The space is perfect for entertaining. The kitchen opens to one of the two living rooms and features vaulted ceilings and dimmable recessed lighting. The living area features a towering stacked stone fireplace, reminiscent of the period. Large windows let in lots of natural light and refinished concrete floors enhance the feeling of openness. The office also has a vaulted ceiling with recessed lighting, and features 3 large windows that view the tranquil, green backyard. This home sits on a massive 12,000+ sqft creekside lot fringed by bamboo and shaded by two large, mature trees.

We call this the "honeycomb house" because of the hexagonal design element that is replicated throughout the home. It is featured in a custom trellis, front door design, and concrete landscaping pavers. Another great design feature is the horizontal slatted front fence that wraps around the side of the carport.

This home features two luxurious bathrooms. The hall bath features a refinished vintage tub and a blend of deep blue glass tiles. The master bath will feel like a trip to the spa. It features river pebble flooring, and a green glass tile shower with a raised redwood platform.

The kitchen is designed for gourmets who love to entertain. In addition to a modern, customizable IKEA cabinetry system, it also features under-cabinet lighting, a built-in butcher block, convection oven, modern faucet, and a glass tile backsplash specially designed for this space.

This home also features a number of important green technologies. In addition to replacing and adding insulation, we also installed a radiant barrier, reglazed the original windows, replaced standard bulbs with compact flourescents, installed new exterior doors, and painted the exterior of the home with a high-tech ceramic additive that adds another layer of thermal insulation. In the office, we also added double-paned windows and a 20 SEER high efficiency, mini-split ductless AC unit (the highest rating we've seen to date). To cut down on water use, we landscaped with pebbles and planted drought-resistant plants. We also replaced old toilets with new, flapperless low-flow toilets. And, to improve indoor air quality, the entire interior was painted with non-toxic, Low VOC (volatile organic compound) paint.
