anybody in austin want/need a papaya tree?
we have been composting and reusing our veg/fruit scraps. we ended up with a small forest of papaya trees. I've seen smaller trees for sale at home depot for $40 or so.
I don't think they will survive a hard freeze so I'll offer some up if you have the space. not sure if they need to be potted and taken indoors for the winter or maybe you have a somewhat protected are next to your home.

Hi Paul
I don’t live anywhere near Austin but have been dying to get some papaya trees. If I pay for shipping would you be willing to ship them to Florida? Thanks so much for your time.
Sincerely,
Victoria Hill
Alex, the trees are over 3 ft tall; not including root ball. there is a pic on our blog at austinmodhouse.com/blog
Victoria,
as much as it warms my heart to know that you would go to such lengths to take in one of my tree, I don't think it's practical. the shipping would cost quite a lot and is not exactly practical. if you want a papaya tree, you can do as we did. eat papaya and toss the seeds in dirt out in the yard.
