Building Modern - Where to save on interior/ext. finishes?

We are embarking on building a modern (and green as possible ) house. We would appreciate any input on any resources that will save us money so that we can build green and incorporate finishes that we like for things like:
8-9 ft wood doors
Pocket doors
Windows (custom and standard)
Modern Front Door resources
Bathroom fixtures/hardware

Check out Scarlett Lyda at http://www.modernhomesource.com. She's done some really nice modern homes in the old Fourth ward and should be able to direct you.
