Check out the latest blips on BUILD's radar.

The latest links, events, and tunes keeping us inspired and humored.

ARCHITECTing
More of less. Keeping things smart and small in Soos Creek.
-thanks to Clint

MAKing
Last week’s post on master woodworkers brought in a healthy dose of exposure to individuals in the craft we hadn’t heard of yet, particularly women woodworkers. They’re out there and they’re doing some great work. A couple worth checking out: Wendy Maruyama and Gail Fredell.
-thanks to Chris

DESIGNing
Dual Cut, a multi-purposeful piece of modern furniture.

Check out the sharp furniture coming out of Brad Swaggerty Studio.
-thanks to Brad

BLOGGing
Celebrities dig architecture. Moby really digs architecture. Check out his architecture blog about Los Angeles.
-thanks to StudioIDE

My Scandinavian Retreat is a daydreamy blog. Not a far cry from the other daydreamy fave: Cabin Porn.
-thanks to Vilde

TUMBLing
A relatively new addition to the universe of design snark, FYNCT falls in the lineage of Unhappy Hipsters. This one has a particularly angsty penchant for terrariums and frame clusters. And Isamu Noguchi.
-thanks to Shane

EXHIBITing
Eero Saarinen: A Reputation for Innovation opens today at the Nordic Heritage Museum in Ballard and runs through August 20th. If you missed the lecture by Mina Marefat, the exhibit’s curator, on May 23rd, she’ll also be presenting at PechaKucha the following night. More on that below.

LECTURing
BUILD is on the roster of presenters at PechaKucha 36 : Nordic Love on May 31st at the Nordic Heritage Museum in Ballard. If you’re in the area, come on by, say hello and check out what looks to be a fantastic group of speakers for a night of modernism-filled inspiration.

READing
Architecture humor from the outside. Reminds us of Annie Choi’s open letter to architects years back.
-thanks to Jody

FUNDRAISing
For Frank Lloyd Wright fans in California: An exclusive fundraiser dinner at the Walker House is being held in Carmel, California next month. Hosted by The Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy on June 9th. Details and registration here.

PUBLISHing
There’s just no shaking the nationwide fever for Couch Cushion Architecture. Last month, The New York Times wrote a piece about it.

BUILD’s Whidbey Island Potting Shed is in the May issue of Seattle Magazine’s Northwest Home Magazine.

LISTENing
Currently on heavy rotation at BUILD World Headquarters:
Alabama Shakes, Jack White, The Lumineers, Of Monsters and Men

That covers it for this round. As always, let us know what’s on your radar in the comments below.

Cheers, from Team BUILD
