Last winter, Alexa bought a couple of cobalt blue suede pot holders at March in San Francisco; I've been secretly coveting them ever since. Why are they so appealing? "They're pleasingly tactile," Alexa says. "They even look better with time, the way a suede jacket keeps getting better and better. I use them primarily for top-of-the-stove activities, for pouring boiling water from my tea kettle. When I need to clean them, I just brush them off; they're surprisingly stain-resistant." Above: The Classic Suede Potholder comes in eight colors; $24 each at Dar Gitane. Above: New at Anthropologie: the brown Stitched Leather Pot Holder is $18. Above: Catskill Mountain Country offers Suede Pot Holders (7.5 inches square) in 19 colors (according to the company, they can be laundered in the washing machine); $9.99 via Etsy . Above: Cuvee Kitchen's 9-inch-square Leather Pot Holder comes in nine colors; $15.95 each (also available in a 7.5-square size for $14.95).
