Back in the 1600s, serving trays (salvers) were made from silver and usually belonged to the privileged; things have changed, obviously; here are a few of our favorite high-style trays, within the reach of all: Above: The white Perimeter Tray from Ladies and Gentleman features brass handles and a Carrara marble cheese board, which can be repositioned or removed. Above: The Perimeter Tray by Ladies and Gentlemen is available in white oak or walnut and comes in white, black, and red; prices start at $175. Above: Designed by Belgian architects Claire Bataille and Paul Ibens, the Plateau Tray is available in oak, maple, or ebony, with stainless steel handles. Go to When Objects Work for information. Above: Corin Mellor, a designer and son of venerable UK flatware designer David Mellor, offers the Corin Mellor Tray made of birch plywood and available in small, medium, and large sizes; prices start at £49.
