Lou Zucaro, of the blog Modern Illinois, sent a link to a post he did recently about the effort being undertaken to try and save an architecturally-significant, mid-century stone & concrete Briarwood Lane bridge, built in 1954 as part of the Plum Grove Estates in Palatine, IL.
