"Dresser designed it but Earl only got the top floor built; then the next owner named Graye and his wife, Mary Graye bought it, and finished out a lower level. At some point Mr. Graye is no longer in the picture (death? divorce?) and sometime later Mary married Professor Isidore Fine. The two of them designed and built the majority of the lower level that wraps masterfully around trees and the features of the sloping site. Mary liked a clean look and hid everything she could -- most outlets and switches are hidden, and even the toilet off the bedroom is disguised to look like banquette seating. You have to move the pillows and lift up a hinged section to reveal the commode. And the gardens surrounding the house are amazing."

Hopefully this unique work of Organic Architecture will survive and not lose its character once sold. See the listing and more photos here.
