We asked yesterday for images and news from this week's Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy Annual Conference taking place in (and around) Mason City, IA. Well, James Dains and Pat Schitz from "Cedar Rock" (the Walter House in Quasqueton, IA) sent two photos and a note about the site visit by conference attendees as part of the event. More after the jump... Pat Schmitz of the Friends of Ceadr Rock writes: "Yesterday afternoon "Cedar Rock"...

"Yesterday afternoon "Cedar Rock" and the FCR hosted visitors from the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy which are hosting their annual conference in Mason City, IA this year.  Cedar Rock was one of 3 FLW sites the group got the opportunity to experience that day.

Here are some highlights from the event:

• We hosted approx. 150 guests on 6 tours

• Visitor comments to staff/volunteers/FCR members ranged on various topics but included things like; the FCR and the Site work so well together, the reception from the FCR at the VC made us feel so welcome - What a positive experience!

• Comments on the house; the site is so authentic and pristine - changes have not been made to suit current uses which leaves the site as FLW intended, the Walter Estate has the qualities of a real home - it is a site visitors could really live in, the site is so clean and well kept!

Overall things ran very smoothly. We did squeak in the time to visit with the participants—some are fantastic contacts with an interest in networking with the FCR and Cedar Rock. I am so glad that "Cedar Rock" was included and that this was such a positive event.

The staff and I really enjoyed the afternoon working with the volunteers and the Friends directors and members. Thank you all so much for making this event a huge success!"

Thanks James and Pat—it's great that such a fantastic Wright-design was included in the conference activities. If you've not visited "Cedar Rock" then make sure to plan your visit soon!
