In honor of Taliesin's centennial, architectural historian, William Blair Scott, Jr. was kind enough to share a group of photos from 1949 documenting Wright's Spring Green, WI estate. See them all after the jump... This final image above is one of the most fascinating to me. It shows the inside of the Hillside Theater prior to a fire that burned much of it in 1952. This final image above is one of the most fascinating to me. It shows the inside of the Hillside Theater prior to a fire that burned much of it in 1952. Of particular note is the original theater curtain designed by Wright and lost in the fire, and a peculiar stalactite-like pendent cube light that I've not seen before. I'd love to see the complete design of that curtain (if anyone has an image they'd like to share.)
