The competition challenged architects, designers, and artists from around the world to re-imagine the lifeguard towers on the beach of Lake Ontario, near Toronto, Canada. Named "In the Belly of a Bear," the sculpture features a dark exterior that sets it apart from the bright, frozen landscape. Viewers are invited to climb up a wooden ladder into the belly of the 15-feet diameter structure, where domed sitting space provides shelter and views of the sky outside.
