I believe the firepit is a found object which contrast nicely with the beautifully constructed Nelson style benches.

Enjoying the summer days, and doing a little landscaping around our new home has made me a little bit intoxicated with the idea of modern design in a natural settings. I've found myself frequenting the sites of some of my favorite architectural design firms, in particular the work of Rosenlof/Lucas has kept my habit going. Although not traditionally trained in the trade of landscape architecture the Minds of Mike Brady and Matt Olson seem to continuously generate some of the most dynamic modern designs I have seen, and this summers selection of work seems to be no exception. Their use of simple rugged materials like rough timbers, blue trap rock, steel edging and concrete pavers show that you can achieve a simple yet sophisticated design without exotic materials or monstrous budgets. Check out there work, they do a great job of sharing their weekly progress on everything they're working on.
