But such a feat is a cake walk for a very talented and creative interior designer like Josephine Verne-Gintzburger. Her vast experience in designing and melding eclectic pieces together allowed her to transform and fluently translate a historic Parisian home into a modern masterpiece.
The German-French interior designer spent two decades in fashion design, working in top fashion houses such as Louis Vuitton, Armani, Celine and Christian Dior, before venturing into interior design. One of Josephine’s acclaimed projects was the transformation of the Saint Eustache Apartment, a space full of historic architectural elements and structures, into a modern home design. As always, she was able to combine German minimalism with French exuberance.

Be prepared to be welcomed warmly with Josephine’s playful take on this home’s foyer. The space, although small, is noteworthy because of its wall art and console table below it. The door and staircase’s dark rich color blends well with the white walls and French windows.
Placing an accent piece in your space can make or break it. Here, Josephine’s use of a romantic lamp in Victorian style and adorned with roses and crystals softens the colors and make of the modern furniture.
This is a retro look, a specialty of Josephine. Her decision to accentuate the home’s vintage structure with a vibrant-colored modern armchair and ethnic accent piece is simply wise, producing stunning results.
Her minimalist design of the living space complements the historic architectural structures of the apartment. The space looks airy and bright, thanks to the white walls, minimalist furniture, wooden columns and wooden slats in the ceiling. The modern lounge chairs in velvet black perfectly complement the rustic look and feel of the space, particularly the wood-gilded fireplace.
Fun eclectic pieces add a playfulness to the home such as this vintage clock and alligator hide lying on the floor in the living room.
This room is quite inviting, really, even for its minimalist look. The furnishings are used sparingly; but, perfectly completing the room’s modern and romantic look. The wood side table and modern crystal lamp brightens the space.
The apartment’s kitchen and dining area are simply to-die-for. Here, Josephine’s signature talent in mixing retro and modern furniture together is in full display. We just love the vintage pink fridge, the colorful wall art and the shocking red drawer/pantry. The black kitchen counter works very well with the stainless dining table and the wooden dining chairs.
Here’s closer look of the kitchen: gorgeous, isn’t it? The little details add a quirky look to the space – the hanging red lamp that goes well with the wall art and stainless and black counter; the wood organizer of utensils; and the digital stove and oven beside the vintage fridge.
Who wouldn’t want a cozy reading nook? The dark velvet lounge chair and side table set before a French door speak comfort. The abundance of natural light coming in from the doors makes this the perfect spot for your reading pleasure.
