Mark H. sends a link to a story in the New York Times about the effort of architects and preservationists from around the globe to try and save the Shabolovka radio tower in Moscow. Dubbed "Russia's Eiffel Tower", the 50-story conical structure was designed in 1922 by Vladimir Shukhov and is considered one of the engineering marvels of the 20th Century.
