  A 60s bungalow in Sydney was transformed using a slatted wood screen that controls light and gives the inhabitants plenty of privacy. Sydney-based Bijl Architects were charged with updating the dark, closed-in space and turning it into an open and bright home that the whole family could enjoy together. Called the "Escu" House - escu being Old French for shield - the space is now bright, open and looks modern and distinct from the street. The original home had a large verandah on...
