A large number of humpback whale mortalities along the United States' East Coast has scientists concerned. 41 humpback whales have perished between Maine and North Carolina in the last 15 months, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency (NOAA) has started an investigation. Some have died from propeller injuries, and a NOAA veterinary medical officer said the quantity of whale strandings is alarming.
