Michael S. writes to thank PrairieMod for the role it played in helping his dream house. In November 2013, Michael and his husband bought the Delbert W. Michael writes:

"Mind you, we're trying to walk the thin line between tastefully modernizing and destroying architectural history. After all, this house has as a pedigree! As part of Frank Lloyd Wright's collaboration with Arthur L. Richards, the American System Built Homes were the architect's first foray into prefab housing. There were fewer than thirty houses built before the project was scrapped in 1917. Of those, fewer than 15 are standing today.

Still, we don't want the house to be a museum. This is OUR house, first and foremost. We're having fun with the house, one DIY project at a time. We're filling the house with mostly secondhand furniture and accessories, shopping at Chicago estate sale, small towns of Iowa antique malls, and all points in between. We're mixing furniture styles and eras and creating that home that honors design but doesn't take it too seriously. The before and after category on our blog will give you a good sense of the progress we've made in our four months of ownership."

Wonderful, Michael--and glad to help put you onto this fantastic project. Check it all out here.
