LiDAR data once again aided archaeologists in a thrilling new discovery. Utilizing lasers, archaeologists recently discovered that the cities near Cambodian wonder Angkor Wat were much larger than thought. The Khmer Empire constructed cities and temple complexes on a greater scope than realized. Angkor Wat was built during the reign of King Suryavarman II of the Khmer Empire in the early to middle 1100s, and was part of one of the biggest ancient cities.
