Well, boys and girls, it looks like the end of the road for this blog. But guess what? Tomorrow materialicious will magically reappear as an entirely new, different-looking web site...

After two years of blogging, first with Wordpress, and then with Typepad, I've decided that I actually dislike the process. REALLY dislike it. LOATHE it, actually. I'm terrible at managing all that stuff, truly. My greatest joy is trolling the Internet, following the links, looking in the 'attics and basements' of other people's sites, and the act of DISCOVERY. All I ever wanted to do was find cool stuff, and put it on a page for you folks to have fun with. Supposedly, I'm really good at it, but lately I have found myself bogged down in the daily grind of "blog management", which totally takes away from my 'research' time. Yuck.

So! I have joined forces with a web developer (and a really good sport) to redesign materialicious into more of a 'curation' site, one that will allow me to post content far more efficiently and quickly. There will only be images, titles and links. That's it. Oh, yeah - and each post will include TAGS, which will be grouped into a cloud, and y'all can go nuts and easily explore the site. Also included will be a blog of sorts, where I will write news and other goodies pertaining to the site, not often, just once in a while. But the main focus, of course, will always be the content, which now will include much more than what is currently available, meaning materials and products, furnishings and accessories, whatever strikes my fancy. I have TONS of links and goodies to share! One more thing, and it pains me to do so: there will no comments section. The main reason for losing that is simple: while I love all of you who comment in an amiable and friendly fashion (and you know who you are!), I'm sick and tired of the negative aspect - there are a LOT of haters and spammers out there, and I just don't need that stuff in my life anymore. You can, however, email me anytime, to offer links, feedback, just to shoot the breeze, whatever. I love emails :)

So, please, be patient over the next few days as the domain is switched and the feeds do whatever it is they do, and hopefully everything will go smoothly. Wait a few days before emailing me if there any problems. They'll sort themselves out :)

The last two years have been an AMAZING experience, and I have made a great many friends along the way. So, I promise, I'm not going anywhere! Onward and upward, my friends!

Warmest regards,

Justin

this website is for sale

This website will undergo significant changes in 2020.  First, the domain name has been sold. Visitors will not be able to find the site at livemodern.com after the new domain owner publishes their new website. In the meantime, we are looking for a buyer for the content, someone who wants to continue the mission of the website. If that is you, contact marshall [at] livemodern.com. I will provide details.
