Standing in a corner between Zion and Outram Roads, this 'old-school' cool industrial building is certainly not a destination one would expect to find a dozen of hip furniture and home décor stores inside. But it really is one of the lesser known local furniture mall to head to whenever you are renovating or revamping your abode.
Among the tenants who have set up their camps here are companies like Pomelo, Jehan Gallery, Journey East and The Shophouse. A couple of antique shops and a gourmet shop called The Providore round up the offerings.
Be warned that you could really find yourself spending hours browsing from store to store once you start. With so many furniture stores around, you should probably start from the higher floors and work you way down slowly. We at Home Rejuvenation love the stuff at Pomelo and The Shophouse on the 10th floor in particular - the former taking our fancy with its distinct air of industrial and Scandinavian cool and the latter with its easy yet elegant visual merchandising. Prices at The Shophouse are particularly value for money.
With its curated supply of quality international homewares, Singapore Trading Post is another shop choked full of home accessories and décor objects with a distinct worldly allure. Their weathered, whimsical circus chairs with clown images really stood out.
If you are looking for something with a touch of warmth, you ought to stop by Mountain Teak and Journey East as well. Journey East needs no introduction as it's long been known to be one of Singapore’s choice destinations for unique upcycled furnishings and accessories. Here, you'll also find restored vintage and retro pieces (70s telephones anyone?), reclaimed wood furniture and even premium outdoor furniture. Don't miss out having a cup of coffee brewed by the friendly in-store barista while you roam around the store too!
And in case we forget, a visit to Jehan Gallery is also a must. The huge collection of rug styles and types ranging from contemporary to Persian to flat weave means that there will definitely be one that catches your attention. Just located behind the rug gallery is their furniture showroom carrying an equally good selection of sofas, cabinets and tables.
