The Ace Hotels in Seattle, Portland , Palm Springs , and New York (we've been lucky enough to visit them all) feature simple, black-and-white baths, with easily sourced hardware-store and industrial elements. Photography courtesy of Ace Hotel Portland . Above: The Ace bathrooms all adhere to a strict back and white palette. Above: We especially like the black canvas curtains in this Ace Portland bath; for something similar, consider sourcing a Black Canvas Drop Cloth for $24 from Homestead.. Above: Ace bathrooms are stocked with Malin + Goetz products. Founders Andrew Goetz and Matthew Malin modeled their company after the traditional neighborhood apothecary of years gone by; they make their products locally using natural ingredients. Recreate the look at home with the following elements: Above: The Pharmacy Wall-Mount Medicine Cabinet was inspired by a 19th-century medicine cabinet; the small size is $495 and the larger is $595 at Restoration Hardware. Ohmega Too in Berkeley offers handmade alder wood Recessed Medicine Cabinets , made by a local craftsman; $495 at Ohmega Too. Above: Plumbing Pipe Toilet Paper Holder ; made of reclaimed industrial steel plumbing pipe with an ebonized rust patina; $68 from Mercantile Rx on Etsy. A similar Industrial Toilet Roll Holder , from Oxford, Ohio-based Wire & Twine, is $45. Above: Plumbing Pipe Towel Bar , made of reclaimed industrial steel plumbing pipe with an ebonized rust patina (36 inches long); $156 from Mercantile Rx on Etsy. Above: In the bathrooms at the Ace Hotel & Swim Club in Palm Springs, the designers used the Kohler Stillness Widespread Lavoratory Faucet for $397.26 from eFaucets. Above: The Kohler Stillness Shower Valve is $309 from Home Depot. Above: A 6-by-8-foot, off-white, 100-percent cotton Canvas Tarp is $22.56 at Tarps Plus. At the Ace in Palm Springs, the designers used tarps as wall coverings and as curtains; they can also be used as shower curtains. Above: Fixtures from Portland, Oregon-based Schoolhouse Electric provide a stylish, vintage look. The Alabax Surface fixture is available in black or white porcelain and is $135. Above: The Lewis Pendant has a glass socket and comes in black or white porcelain and is $125 from Schoolhouse Electric. Above: Halco Globe Bulb ; $0.64 each at 1000 Bulbs.
