According to this recent Chicago Tribune article, the Chicago Park District is looking to get out of being responsible for the care of an 1892 replica of a 1,000-year-old Viking vessel, built for the 1893 Columbian Exposition. The Park District argues that the non-profit group, Friends of the Viking Ship, Inc., would be much better stewards.
