Scott provides some background info: "I'd heard about it and seen one or two construction photos, but this is the first time I've seen any photos that give me a real sense of the place. HOLY CATS!! The two things I remember hearing about it: the lintel stone over the main fireplace is unbelievably huge, which you can see in photo #7. And the house looks like a one-story from the street, but three levels cascade down over a cliff overlooking Lake Superior. Eloise Fritz told me the masons working on the huge lakeside stone wall got vertigo and had to quit, and Ty Fritz (and I assume others) took over to complete it. I believe Eloise also called this house Herb's masterwork. The Lundeen House #1, also by Fritz, is on Lake Mendota here in Madison, not far from where I'm sitting. An even earlier Lundeen House, an interesting triangle evidently designed by Lundeen himself, is just to the south of that. I don't think I ever found Herb Fritz's second design for Lundeen, but I think that was built, too."

Thanks as always Scott. See the listing and all the photos here. Hopefully a monograph on Fritz's work will be available one day for us all to learn more about this fascinating architect.
